Offers affordability, innovation and energy efficiency with a view

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – January 11, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — An affordable and energy-efficient housing complex accommodating 70 families in the Mountain View neighborhood of East Anchorage opens today. Ridgeline Terrace is the biggest project Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) has constructed since 1998.

The 5 Star Plus energy rated property consists of 70-units for families and seniors. Fifty family units and 20 senior (55 and older) rental units feature solar-powered hot water and electricity systems that help reduce tenant-paid utility expenses and operating costs. All units contain washer and dryer hookups, and all senior units are sensory and mobility impairment equipped.

“Ridgeline Terrace is an important addition to the Mountain View community and to Anchorage’s housing stock as a whole,” said Bryan Butcher, AHFC CEO and executive director. “This is a big project, 6.5 acres of quality, affordable homes, that provide relief to a tight market and helps the growing list of those who say they need financial assistance with their housing.”

Butcher says the project owes success to partners such as Cook Inlet Housing Authority who is overseeing the rental process, Kids’ Corp. Inc. for providing childcare services and Rasmuson Foundation for contributing to funding. The on-site community center, dedicated to Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame Alumnae and community champion Jewel Jones, includes a multipurpose space, all-purpose kitchen, laundry room, Kids’ Corp. Inc. Head Start day care/education program, and a community director’s office.

Funding for Ridgeline Terrace was provided by AHFC dividends, state appropriations, federal funds, taxexempt bonds and tax credit private investment.

Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) is a public corporation with a long history of providing Alaskans access to safe, quality and affordable housing through home financing programs, energy efficiency and weatherization programs, public housing and more.

Since 1986, AHFC has contributed $1.9 billion to the State of Alaska’s General Fund.
