Washington, D.C. – June 21, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants and contracts awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:
U.S.<u> Department of Housing and Urban Development:
- $2,902,308 to the Alaska Housing Financial Corporation for capital and management activities, including modernization and development of public housing.
U.S. Department of the Army Office of the Chief of Legislative Liaison:
- $8,884,000 to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, LLC for dredging approximately 1.1 million cubic yards of sand from an offshore borrow source and placing it on the beach berm and dune along approximately 8 miles of shoreline in Ocean City, Maryland.
U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration:
- $958,650 to Alaska Department of Fish and Game for aiding the State of Alaska in implementation of the state’s portion of the Bering Sea-Aleutians Crab Rationalization Program in Juneau, Alaska.
- $1,920,810 to Connected Nation, Inc. to expand broadband availability in pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for a project to map broadband availability in state of Alaska.
U.S. Department of Justice:
- $312,000 to Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Juvenile Justice for the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Program to reduce juvenile offending through accountability-based programs focused on both the juvenile offender and the juvenile justice system in all Alaska.
U.S. Department of Education, Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs:
- $312,000 to Northwest Arctic Borough School District for the Integration of Schools and Mental Health Systems in Kotzebue, Alaska. U.S. Department of Energy:
- $76,000,000 for Advanced Energy-Efficient Building Technologies and Commercial Building Training Programs to support advanced energy-efficient building technology projects and the development of training programs for commercial building equipment technicians, building operators, and energy auditors.
U.S. Department of Transportation:
- $6,408,000 to Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities for the design and construction of the Annette Bay Ferry Terminal, located near Metlakatla, Alaska.
- $3,243,000 to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Alaska University Transportation Center, to fund projects related to cold regions transportation, including bridge response to earthquakes in frozen ground, cold weather concrete and stabilization of erodible and thawing permafrost slopes.
- $2,000,000 to the Ted Stevens International Airport to acquire snow removal equipment
