Mortgage defaults expected to persist in Southcentral

WASILLA — Observers in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and in Anchorage report scores of home foreclosures that began late last year and aren’t expected to taper off soon.
Before last winter, Realtor Uli Johnson was handling one or two foreclosures a year as broker at Wasilla’s Double Eagle Real Estate.

Road extension connects Eagle River Valley to Glenn

Homesteader Mary Lou Briggs and then-Gov. Walter Hickel cut the ribbon across the brand new Briggs Bridge on the Eagle River Oct. 1, 1992. The bridge was part of a $26.4 million construction project that widened Eagle River Loop Road, extended it across the Eagle River Valley and connected it to the Glenn Highway.
