This year, five of the selected projects leveraged AHFC’s awards with generous funding, $1.5 million, provided by Rasmuson Foundation.
The GOAL program, supported by the Alaska Congressional delegation, includes a combination of federal and state grants and federal tax credits to project sponsors who build or renovate affordable rental and supportive housing for low-income, senior families and those with disabilities, or to develop rental housing that helps reduce homelessness.
AHFC CEO and Executive Director Bryan Butcher said, “We are very pleased with the GOAL grants and I like to thank all involved for making efforts toward availability of more affordable housing; Federal and State elected officials, Rasmuson Foundation, developers and last but not least AHFC staff who has pushed for innovation with energy efficiency, operations and total project cost.”
Governor Sean Parnell said, “The generous contribution by Rasmuson Foundation stretched AHFC’s resources further resulting in more homes for more Alaskans,” Governor Parnell said. “I applaud AHFC for continuing to aggressively pursue the realization of more affordable housing.”
“The inability of many Alaskans to secure stable, affordable housing is a solvable problem,” said Rasmuson Foundation President Diane Kaplan. “Our $1.5 million contribution toward five of these projects is a great step forward in both our partnership with AHFC and in the Foundation’s commitment to improve the lives of Alaskans.”
