WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — After reviewing a stack of individual objections and listening to property owners testify during the second public hearing on the Homer Natural Gas Special Assessment District (HSAD), the Homer City Council made final adjustments to the preliminary roll and corrected any errors with the passage of Resolution 15-016 Monday night, March 16. Most of the changes included exempting lots that were determined to be undevelopable by the Planning Department and Council. The 16th was the final date for objections to be reviewed. No new changes can be made to the assessment roll. A copy of the final assessment roll can be found here.
The City will be sending out statements for the assessments in April. Assessments are due by July 1. Property owners have the option to pay over a 10 year period, just over $405 a year, or upfront $3,262.77 for each parcel of real property. See below for a payment schedule. Homeowners at 125% of the current U.S. Health and Human Services poverty guidelines can apply for a deferred assessment. More information on how deferred assessments work can be found here.
A final public hearing will be held on Monday the 23rd at 6pm when the final assessment roll will be adopted via Resolution 15-017.
